Review: Escape from New York # 1

Escape from New York #1 - Boom! Studios

One of my favorite movie characters is back, and starring in a Comic book role that only he can bring to life, Snake Plissken. That’s right Escape from New York continues and our cocky, smart-assed, needs-an attitude-adjustment, hero is back!

Starting out right where the movie left off, Snake screws over the president, switching the all-important tape, that will supposedly stop the next World War with a classic tune, unfortunately because of copyright issues that song, the theme to American Bandstand, never gets named (oops). This all-new story takes Snake on even more imaginative adventures.

Escape from New York # 1 takes Snake on a road-trip to Florida. According to a group of thieves that pick Snake up while hitchhiking, Florida has seceded from the United States and is the only place left on the continent for people like Snake, i.e. rabble rousers, criminals and anyone who refuses to conform. According to these strangers, Florida is ruled by twins who possess powers like "controlling weather, stopping time, and turning a meal for one into a meal for thousands.” Snake makes his way to the Florida border, where he must endure a challenge called "The Crucible" to ensure that he is a worthy citizen of the Sunshine State.

The story written by Christopher Sebela is unique and well-written, especially given the fact that Snake Plissken does not have much to say. He is a man that keeps his thoughts to himself, preferring to observe rather than speak. The artwork by artist Diego Barreto is superb, showing the ever changing emotions on characters faces and giving the comic book a cinematic feel in the action scenes, bringing them vividly to life and making it one of the most eye-popping comics on shelves today!

Fans of John Carpenter, Kurt Russell or Snake Plissken are sure to love this comic book, but I encourage all readers to give this story a shot, I don’t think you will be disappointed!

Review: Bitch Planet #1

Bitch Planet - Image Comics

"Being a woman is a terribly difficult task, since it consists principally in dealing with men." - Joseph Conrad

Kelly Sue DeConnick and  Valentine De Landro  bring readers an all-new comic book hit, with one of the coolest titles to come out this year; Bitch Planet #1 comic book.
Watch out ladies, men have a way to get rid of us. Talk back, speak your mind, not a good housekeeper, maybe gain a few pounds, not so good in the sack; well you are Non-Compliant; you’re gone! Or maybe your husband wants a newer, younger wife, then you’re gone, that’s right you are gone, and it is only woman that are sent away for what society calls “non-compliance.”

Non-Compliant ladies are sent in space to a new world, a prison….Bitch Planet. And they’re not just incarcerated there, everything about Bitch Planet itself is meant to remind the inmates that it’s their fault that they’re here. On their way to Bitch Planet recording  is  played to the new non-compliant ladies on their journey that reminds them in no uncertain terms that they are not only sinners, but are a cancer on society, and that their removal from Earth isn't just a punishment, it’s necessary for the survival of humanity. When the women arrive they are instantly shown what the ideal, compliant woman should look like; a woman with big bust, small waist and a suitably religious demeanor; the ideal of compliance that’s everything they’re not.

In this first issue, you will learn all you need to know about this sick and messed-up society where men rule and women are supposed to be subservient. You’ll learn who to hate and who to root for! And, most of all you will ache to see it all play out! You will be angry and you will be waiting, craving for the woman to break out and tear down this prison, its guards and the men that put them there. Yes, you will burn for bloody, violent, vengeance and I’m sure Kelly Sue DeConnick will deliver in Bitch Planet.

Review: Tooth & Claw #1

Tooth & Claw #1 - Image Comics

People speak sometimes about the "bestial" cruelty of man, but that is terribly unjust and offensive to beasts, no animal could ever be so cruel as a man, so artfully, so artistically cruel.
- Fyodor Dostoevsky

Kurt Busiek delivers with his all new comic book, Tooth & Claw. Tooth & Claw #1 is a well-written fantasy about a world run completely on magic, but the magic is in jeopardy and it seems that, if they do not do something soon, their magic will disappear.

The main characters of this story were a complete surprise to me; they were anthropomorphic animals with magical abilities. They live in the floating city of Keneil, “westernmost of the Seventeen Cities Above the Plain” where everything is magic and that magic is dying. Dunstan, a dog-boy – one of several “animal” races – does his duty faithfully, paying homage to his gods, aware that the day will soon come when he has to learn his father’s responsibilities and magic. Unfortunately for him, that day may come sooner than he thinks.

A gathering of Wizard’s determines that their magic is indeed failing them. Fearful and unsure of their ability to survive without magic, they begin down a path that can only lead to disaster. Some of the braver wizards do the unthinkable; they pool their magic together and reach into the past to bring back the supplier of magic “The Great Champion.” Will this end in disaster or be their saving grace?

If you haven’t read the new Tooth & Claw comic book, I highly recommend picking up a copy today.

Review: Crossed + 100 #1

"That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons of history." - Aldous Huxley

Crossed + 100 # 1 - Avatar Press

Spinning out of Crossed, a top-selling Avatar Press comic book by Garth Ennis, Alan Moore brings readers an all-new horror with Crossed +100 comic book. Art is supplied by Gabriel Andrade who brings to life the Crossed affliction with a uniqueness that is seen on the faces of the characters portrayed in Crossed +100.

The original Crossed comic book series and its successor Crossed: Badlands, chronicle the time of the initial outbreak of the Crossed Plague and the few years immediately following. Crossed +100 comic books are set 100 years after the onset of this terrible plague. Writer Alan Moore builds the Crossed +100 comic book story and makes it come to life with his distinctive writing skills. In a future where there are no schools, laws or common morality how would society evolve? Alan Moore answers that question and more in the Crossed +100 comic book series.

Survivors of the Crossed plague have grown up with no education, no leaders, so to say, and a lack of knowledge as to what exactly happened to the human race. Now 100 years in the future, these survivors are searching for clues, clues to their past, what happened and what brought about this terrible affliction.

Traveling by train from city to city, artist Gabriel Andrade, paints a picture of world that is returning to its original state of vegetation.  With the Crossed dying out over the past 100 years and no one to maintain homes and businesses nature is reclaiming the planet; giving an urgency to our survivors, who are looking for any artifacts or books that can supply them with a glimpse into our past world.

Thinking that the Crossed plague is all but wiped out, our handful of survivors are in for quite a shock when while scavenging, they run into the Crossed! Will they survive? Will they be able to piece together the past and find out what happened? Find out today in Crossed +100, available at White Dragon Comics. Pick up your copy today

Series Review: Cutter

Cutter # 1 through 4 - Image Comics

Image comics presents readers with an all-new weekly mini-series that will have fans clenching their fist and biting their lips, while looking over their shoulders in fear. The new comic book series Cutter starts and concludes in October. The four-part terrifying issues of Cutter will leave readers properly satisfied, excellent writing and interior artwork, drawn in black and white add to the realistic and dreary tone of the story.

Cutter #1 starts off with Jeremy, our central character, happily married, expecting his first child; and, when two of his high school friends come up dead, becoming a person of interest. Through flashbacks we see that Jeremy is not quite, the innocent victim, while writer Seamus Fahey and Robert Napton, obscure what he did to provoke this protracted, bloody vengeance.

Right up until the last few pages of the last issue, the beats of the plot are clear. This is a well-structured horror story, quickly setting up a cast of characters and their shared, dark pasts.

In the end, this is a miniseries peculiarly suited to weekly release; it's the kind of intricate, snowballing story where the feeling of gathering momentum is half the fun.You can find Cutter and many other ImageComics Weekly Series at White Dragon Comics.

Review: Cinderella, Age of Darkness #1

Cinderella, Age of Darkness #1 - Zenescope Entertainment

Zenescope comics are often overlooked by comic book fans, mainly because of their cheesecake covers. Men are usually drawn to the covers while most, not all, but most women turn their noses up at the colorful artwork. This stigma that Zenescope carries is not warranted, they in fact are writing some of the best stories in comic books today.

The newest title to hit stands Cinderella: Age of Darkness is not only well written, but a story line I never would have imagined in my wildest dreams, Cinderella, a cold blooded killer?! That’s right, Cinderella, every girl’s favorite fairy-tale princess, is a cold-hearted, blood thirsty killer!

In this all-new tale from Zenescope Comics, Cinderella has done something that has upset the Dark Queen, who has manipulated her way to the throne and to hold on to her throne she sends ‘Cindy’ on a mission that everyone is sure she will fail. That mission, Kill the God of the Underworld, Hades.
Cinderella accepts this quest, but has other ideas in the back of her pretty little head!

Pick up Cinderella: Age of Darkness today. This three-part mini-series is sure to please all fans! If you love fantasy, blood-letting and femme-fatales don’t miss this all-new comic book series from Zenescope.

Review: Hollywood Zombie Apocalypse #1

Hollywood Zombie Apocalypse #1 - Zenescope Entertainment

I have always felt, that when the end of days hit, - you know, the zombie apocalypse - that the fault would somehow lie with Lady Gaga. I mean come on, is there anyone that’s a bigger weirdo than Lady Gaga? And, so it is, in this new horror comic book from Zenescope Entertainment, that the crazy b!+$#  actually starts a fad that leads to the Hollywood Zombie Apocalypse.

Hollywood Zombie Apocalypse starts with unknown actor Michael May who has gotten his first big break, a starring role in a new Hollywood superhero flick alongside a who’s who of A-List actors. Accompanied by his stoner buddy, Michael’s good fortune doesn’t last long, thanks to you know who.

There’s a great deal of humor throughout the comic book, Lady Gaga’s responsibility for the outbreak for one, a couple great jabs at ‘Justin Bieber’ and some other hilarious parodies of other well-known stars. The comic book is well drawn, the story is interesting, but I think the coolest part is the title; Hollywood Zombie Apocalypse. Awesome! If I have to list any faults with the comic book, it would have to be that it’s a two-part story.

All in all Hollywood Zombie Apocalypse is a good story worth reading. Check it out today at White Dragon comics, the friendliest comic book shop on the net.

Review: Wytches #1

Wytches #1 - Image Comics

Turn on the lights, lock the doors, check the closets and under the beds and most assuredly do not look out the windows, Wytches is coming. Not your run of the mill, everyday teenagers playing at magic, but real, terrifying, powerful Wytches. The all-new Wytches, written by Scott Snyder, is not your ordinary tale of “witches” but a truly horrific look at real Wytches and what they are capable of.

Snyder's all-new horror comic book starts with a bullying incident (that in itself is quite disturbing) that goes terribly wrong. The Rooks family and their daughter Sailor have recently moved trying to start over and transition to normal life after Sailors’s recent and harrowing ordeal, each recovering in their own way. Sailor returns to school, a new school, but the events of her past does not take long to resurface and the terror that haunts Sailor returns. There is something lurking in the woods, but who or what is unclear. The one thing that is defined, it is interested in Sailor and her family.

The artwork by Jock brings Wytches to terrifying life. The comic books unsettling tone is due in large part to the bold, aggressive line work by artist Jock and enhanced by colorist Matt Hollingsworth. Hollingsworth's warm tones bring the small town life to life inviting and alluring, but that soon changes becoming dark, sinister and frightening.

Wytches #1 brings the horror back to comic books. The artwork and writing together give readers a truly terrifying tale that is only just beginning. Comic book fans do yourself a favor pick up a copy of Wytches today you will not be disappointed.

Series Review: Batman Eternal

Batman Eternal - DC Comics

Batman Eternal comic books will run for a year, before taking a short hiatus and then return for a second year. Newbie Bard is a rookie cop, but he’s not your run of the mill, stereotypical do-gooder. He’s a good cop trying to find his place in a hostile bed of corruption.

By the end of the first issue, we see Batman’s world turned upside down as one of his closest allies, Jim Gordon, is arrested for recklessly causing a subway accident that killed several people. Review: Bad Kitty One-Shot

Chaos: Bad Kitty One-ShotDynamite Entertainment

Dynamite Entertainment’s new “Chaos” line brings fans an all new one-shot comic book, “Bad Kitty.” One of the most popular Chaos characters, Bad Kitty is a cop, but is she a good cop, or is Bad Kitty a bad cop? This is a comic book, so you know she’s both. How? Split personality is how; a bad ass, no holds barred, shoot now and ask questions later, split personality.

The comic book starts off with our heroine, Bad Kitty, as a child Katherine playing in a sandbox with a friend. This is where we learn about Katherine’s imaginary friend, whom she never sees only hears. Others are not so lucky; they not only get to hear her they get to see her. Katherine’s friend has a disagreement and he soon meets Kittty, with violent results.

Flash forward fifteen years, Katherine is grown and a police officer. Kat is interviewing a suspect, trying to bust a huge drug ring led by a man named Domiko. Staking out a lead, supplied by the suspect, Kat and her partner become separated, when he leaves to follow a kid.  The kid throws a grenade at the car with Kat still inside. The car explodes; this is where our story truly begins.

Waking in a hospital bed is Kitty, not Kat our heroic police officer. The interesting thing is that Kitty does not realize fifteen years have passed. She acts like a ten year old, but plans her revenge in a very adult way. The interaction with her partner is well written, especially when he realizes Kat is not Kat, she is Kitty. And who the hell is Kitty?

Find out today, just who Katherine/Kitty is at White Dragon Comics Chaos Character page.

Series Review: Lazarus

Lazarus - Image Comcs

Lazarus, from Image Comics, is one of those comic books you start reading and wish it was a novel instead of a monthly book, because it's so good you do not want to wait a whole month for the next issue.  Lazarus writer Greg Rucka has another huge Image Comics hit on his hands. Rucka is backed up by the amazing artwork of Michael Lark. Lark has the ability to catch the mood of Rucka’s characters. The detail in Lark’s artwork clearly define the images, showing the division between family and non-family members, kind of like the differences between Lords and their peasants.

Lazarus begins with an explosive bang, the main character Forever Carlyle in the thick of action. It seems Forever has met her end… or has she. The first two pages effectively prove that she may be more technological than natural, in that she cannot suffer the most human fate of all: death. In her regeneration, she becomes more like a Terminator than a specialized soldier. However, she's arguably the most humanized member of the Family so far; for instance, her doctor deems her emotional response to death unusual and she shows hesitation to kill later on in the issue.

Forever has had only glimpses of her family since her birth. The head of the family, her father, has kept Forever separate from the family, while she completes her training, in hopes of maintaining control of her.

The Carlyle family is one of several families that rule within their world. Reminiscent of mafia crime families. And all families have a Lazarus. Each Lazarus is raised believing they are a descendant of that family, making them loyal to the family, but what happens when a Lazarus finds out the truth? This is that story.

Join Forever Carlyle on her quest to find out the truth. Look for Lazarus and many more original series in White Dragon’s Image Comics section.

Series Review: Empty Man

Empty Man - Boom Studios

Empty Man is one of the eeriest comic books I have read in quite some time. From the opening scene, a flashback to a religious revival meeting, set in a converted gas station in Arkansas, there was a sense of uneasiness. The pastor, Reverend Markoff, speaks of healing and faith before a small congregation of veiled women, vacant children, and men in overalls. A bizarre image on the back wall and a bible with a trio of overlapping triangles pointing downwards, add a sense of foreboding, creepiness and an unsettling atmosphere. Empty Man jumps ahead five years (the story timeline jumps throughout) where a brutal, mysterious “disease” called The Empty Man has plagued and terrified the country.

This is where are two main characters are introduced; Special Agents Jensen and Langford of the FBI-CDC are investigating the latest incident of Empty Man. This is shown in gory, suggestive detail in a shocking quick-cut of panels while being narrated by Detective Langford. Langford spares no expense giving the reader details of the gruesome history of the disease and provides insight on just how uneasy the country has become in the aftermath of the incidents.

Empty Man is reminiscent of a good horror film, creepy, terrifying and just plain strange. I have to say I enjoyed the story, but was not a fan of the flashback scenes, at least not at first. Flashback scenes, in my opinion, tend to make the beginning of a story a bit confusing. But as I continued reading, they became an integral part of the story. In the building of this story, the artwork becomes crucial; artist Vanessa Del Rey does not disappoint, her style brings the book eerily to life. It may seem a little rough around the edges, but by drawing the book full of shadows, it creates the effect that something could always be lurking somewhere in the darkness.

Overall, I enjoyed the first few issues and look forward to reading more.

Series Review: Outcast by Robert Kirkman and Paul Azaceta

Outcast - Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment 2014

Image Comics and Robert Kirkman’s Skybound imprint are a match made in heaven, together they keep turning out one hit after another. The newest Skybound Comics title to reach mega-hit status is “Outcast”.  Written by Kirkman, himself, with art by Paul Azaceta, it is clear from the book’s opening, unnerving scene that Kirkman’s aim is to keep you on the edge of your seat with your pulse racing and your heart pounding.

The main character, Kyle, is plagued by a demon – maybe – or something else, something worse. This particular demon calls him “Outcast”; tells Kyle it needs him; it has been following him all his life, possessing his loved ones and trying to pull Kyle back; but back to what?

Kyle’s mother the demons first victim – maybe – is portrayed as being abusive, beating Kyle horribly as a child; or was she saving him, saving him from something meaner and more sinister. His wife, Allison, is a possible second victim. And then there’s Kyle’s young daughter, beaten up so badly that she almost lost her life; Kyle was blamed, but did he do it or is she the demon’s third victim?

Kyle and the local Reverend join forces to try to defeat this evil. Will they be successful? Will they destroy the demon? And what is or who is the “Outcast”?  Find out. Pick up your copy of Robert Kirkman’s newest #1 hit, “Outcast”, at White Dragon Comics today!

What To Read.... What To Read....?

Great Over-looked Titles at Your Comic Book Store

So I was sitting here contemplating what Comic book I should review this week; there are so many new titles, where to start? This got me to wandering around the store looking at all of the great stories available, both new and old. Looking them over again, I found many interesting things in titles that I previously overlooked; some, after seeing them, I remembered, “Oh Yeah! I wanted to check that out.” That's why, instead of writing a review today, I am writing about some featured comic books that you’re not reading, but probably should be.

Some DC titles include: Adventures of Superman, Futures End and Katana.
Adventures of Superman showcases new Creators each month with original tales of the Man of Steel.
Futures End, DC's game-changing weekly comic, jumps into the future of the DC Universe. Find out what changes for our Heroes and Villains five years time will bring about?
Last, and of course not least, Katana brings us a new kind of hero, a Japanese samurai, whose sword steals the essence of those it slays and stores them inside. Pretty Cool so far, right!

Marvel has some great overlooked titles: Daredevil and Savage Wolverine, to name just two.
Daredevil comes at you hot and heavy with this brand new re-launch. Writer Mark Waid had this to say, "We’re about to change literally every aspect of Matt Murdock’s life. Every aspect." Cool!
Savage Wolverine tells stories of Logan’s past with each new arc by a different creative team. What can I say but, “Expect lots of brawls and babes, and maybe even a few brachiosaurs.”

Dynamite has been really pounding out the hits, as well.
Their most overlooked book is Chaos.  This is an essential must have, Really One Sweet comic! Dynamite has revamped the Chaos Universe and has brought together Evil Ernie, Chastity and Purgatory for the first time in years; these three are headed on a collision path with each other and they meet up, the sparks will fly!!! This book is set to have spin-offs of its major characters, Chastity being the first (and is selling fast) followed soon by Purgatory and Evil Ernie. I can’t say enough about this title, if you’re not reading it, you really should be!

Image, Dark Horse, Avatar Press and a few others are next. But, because this post is starting to get a little long, I’m just going to list the titles of some really great over-looked comics for these last few publishers for now, and promise to get more in depth with them in a future post.

Here We Go:

Image Comics: Death Vigil; Manifest Destiny; East of West; Savage Dragon; Dream Police

Dark Horse: Dark Horse Presents; Eerie; Ghost; Creepy

Avatar Press: God is Dead; Hero Worship; Crossed

Boom Studios: Empty Man; Evil Empire; KaBoom! Comics (Tons of Fun, Kid Friendly Titles!)

Valiant Comics: Archer & Armstrong; Bloodshot; Harbinger; X-O Manowar

These are just a few of the many titles you’ll at White Dragon Comics, just take a moment and browse through your favorite comic book store and see what you might be missing!

Review: Chastity #1

Chastity #1 - Dynamite Comics 2014

Dynamite Comics has always been kind of in the background, with some good story-lines and decent art; that is, until now!

With the release of their newly acquired, re-vamped Chaos Universe, they have elevated themselves to greatness
.
Dynamite’s Chaos comic book universe is slowly re-introducing the readers to some popular long-lost characters, like Chastity, Evil Ernie, Purgatory and Lady Demon.

The first spin-off from the Main Chaos series brings us Chastity and I have to say she is becoming one of my favorite characters thus far.

When we meet Chastity, she is just an average every-day teenager, with an overbearing parent. Her mother, a former Olympic medalist, has aspirations for Chastity; she sees a world famous gymnast in her daughter and pushes her to perform.  Chastity was on her way to fulfilling her mothers dream when a terrible accident occurred, forcing her to give up her gymnastic career, which further resulted in the loss of her mother’s affection.

Without the attention of her mother, Chastity turns to books as a for companionship. She becomes caught up in the latest craze: Vampire books, specifically a popular Vampire book series called “The Blood Rose”. The book becomes an obsession for Chastity’s and when she is given the opportunity to meet the writer, she jumps at it. This meeting turns into a lot more than Chastity could have expected and her world will never be the same again.

This is a well-written book and the artwork is phenomenal. I highly recommend Dynamite’s Chastity. Pick up a copy today, you will not be disappointed

Welcome to Chaos! Review of Chaos #1

Chaos #1 - Dynamite Comics 2014

The Horror Heroes of Chaos return, and Dynamite Comics has them.
Evil Ernie, Chastity, The Chosen and Purgatory are all back and connected in a string of events that can only have one outcome: Total Chaos!

Chaos #1 is the launch of a new universe featuring tried and true characters. Writer Tim Seeley starts the all-new Chaos Universe with the reintroduction of Evil Ernie, Purgatory, Lady Demon, and Chastity. All of these characters are set to star in their own spin-off in the near future, but first they must work together in a common cause.

The Chosen kids (The Omen) are raising the dead in search of Evil Ernie, Chastity is revolting against
Purgatory and Ernie, well Ernie is just doing what he does best, killin’.

Each of these characters has individually witnessed visions of the world’s impending doom, and rush headlong into conflict. Some desperately wanting to avert a nuclear holocaust, out of self-interest, while the others just want to raise some hell.

In the words of publisher Nick Barrucci, “So begins the return of the Chaos Universe on an epic scale; the resurrection of fan-favorite boogeymen and femme fatales amidst a violent, apocalyptic upheaval.”

I highly recommend that you get on board!

Review: Harbinger #25

Harbinger #25 - Valiant Comics 2014

Josh Dysart keeps bringing us hits!

Harbinger is on fire!

Issue twenty-five gives the reader some real insight into the super-villain, Toyo Harada. Harada, a powerful and influential man – possibly an insane man – a “Harbinger”; a herald of the future, a Psiot with the potential to reshape the course of humanity’s destiny, and he has decided to go to war with the world.

Why?

He does not have the patience, or the time to deal with humans and their insistence on “Free Will” and “Human Rights.” He believes he is the smartest person in any room. He is dangerous, and angry – angry with small minded politicians, angry with incompetent underlings, and especially angry that his once loyal protégé, Peter Stanchek, has turned on him.

Within a tableau of death and destruction, writer Dysart is able to enthrall the reader’s imagination allowing them to see how Toyo Harada’s followers not only fear, but also worship him. And it is this fear and worship that holds Harada back from actually destroying everything. (This issue also reveals how Harada has stayed looking a young fifty years old for the last thirty years!?!)

This book is not all about Toyo Harada, however. Peter Stanchek – a powerful Psiot himself – and his band of renegade “Harbingers” have been desperately working against the clock to bring down Harada and his sprawling, secret network of conspiracy and subversion known publicly around the globe as the Harbinger Foundation. The Renegades have sacrificed much to reach this point. Now, a Final Showdown is coming!

Don’t Miss It!

George Romero brings it again! "Empire of the Dead: Act One” is sure to please the Zombie lover inside you. George Romero redefines the Zombie genre one more time. "Empire of the Dead" gives readers a different view of Zombies, something new and terrifying - Zombies with intelligence.

Once Acts Two and Three have been published, “Empire of the Dead” will serve as final chapter in George’s “Saga of the Living Dead” that he began in 1968.

The plot, as usual, concerns a handful of survivors looking out for their own interests, who band together while trying to stay alive. The story has some similarities to other Zombie stories; an evil Governor and an arena with fighting Zombies, just like “The Walking Dead”, but Romero’s Governor? Well, I don’t want to give it all away, but expect a twist like no other.

Fans of the Zombie genre will find everything they are looking for, and more, in Romero’s “Empire of the Dead, Act One”, and should only expect things to escalate in the upcoming Acts.

Archer & Armstrong: American Wasteland parts 1 & 2

Archer & Armstrong #20 & 21 (Valiant Comics)

As most of you already know, if you read my reviews, I am not a huge superhero comic book fan. Well that was until my better half the Dragon, suggested I read Archer & Armstrong #20 and 21. He tells me the Lizard King, Elvis, Marilyn and many more people that are famous are in the book.
So, I checked it out. To my surprise, it was a great story! Jim Morrison is not the same Jim Morrison of The Doors, he’s kind of an evil bastard!  And poor Elvis, well you just have to read it, I don’t want to give it all away.
The premise: Archer is looking for his parents. This brings our conspiracy busting duo to L.A. and the Hollywood Hotel . Where stars check in, but they don’t check out. Oh and did I mention an ex-president is stuck in the Hollywood Hotel as well.
Archer & Armstrong is really worth checking out. Fred Van Lente brings us some great writing and Shawn Crystal, Michael Walsh, Mico Suayan and Pere Perez bring it alive with their amazing artwork!
