Marvel Comics Delivers in Morbius, The Living Vampire #1 with Chills and Shocking Enthusiasm

Morbius The Living Vampire is reborn in an all-new comic book published by Marvel Comics, written by Vita Ayala and artwork provided by the talented Marcelo Ferreira. In an all-new chilling story Morbius has returned and he’s taking no prisoners… "When greed and lust for power lead you to abandon virtue, he will be there." - Marvel Comics

Vita Ayala and artist Marcelo Ferreira transport readers into a dark and evil world in Morbius The Living Vampire. Writer Ayala keeps Michael Mobius’s origins true to the character, a scientist born with a blood-disorder searching for a cure and using himself as a test subject makes a horrible mistake and disaster ensues.

Morbius isn’t a villain, although he disburses a rather savage justice it is never used on innocent people. In his search to find a cure Morbius will find evil… evil that his conscience compels him to make right and allows him to satisfy a hunger that never ceases.

Morbius The Living Vampire is not the typical vampire depicted in today’s youth-oriented world, not a heartthrob with sparkly skin, he is a dark and terrifying monster. Vita Ayala conveys Morbius’s gut-wrenching mental state, knowing he is a monster who may never find a cure. Marcelo Ferreira’s vivid artwork enhances Ayala’s story as each panel captivates you taking over your senses, inspiring you to continue reading about Morbius The Living Vampire and his journey to become human once again.

Morbius The Living Vampire is really great story and I am putting it at the top of my Pick’s of The Week list… Morbius is currently in stock at White dragon Comics. Discover Wonder Woman... DC Comics Longest Running Female Superhero

Wonder Woman is one of the most revamped and popular comic book characters that has spun out of the DC Universe. The always beautiful and strong Princess Diana has had more changes than Superman has come out of Phone Booths, just kidding, but it sure is close! The iconic hero quickly became one the most loved superheroes in America due to her unwavering patriotism especially around World War II when she would often fight the Nazis in her adventurous comic books. Wonder Woman also became highly recognized as one of the icons of the feminist movement, after Gloria Steinem featured the superhero on the July 1972 debut issue of Ms. Magazine.

For the last sixty-odd years our comic book heroine has been given super-powers, had them taken away and given back; she has had an invisible airplane and then the plane was gone only to be returned again; her costume has been alter many times, more than any other DC Hero. But, through it all the comic book never flailed in popularity. If you are a shopper looking for Wonder Woman comic books, to see for yourself… well, you’re in luck, you can find a large inventory of Wonder Woman comic books for sale right here on White Dragon Comics Wonder Woman comic book page.

Princess Diana, Wonder Woman has had one constant over the years, pretty much and that is her origin. Created by Doctor William Moulton Marston, under the pseudonym “Charles Moulton” … Diana was born when Queen Hippolyta formed her daughter as a clay statue and the gods granted her life and bestowed upon her gifts of supernatural powers. She was raised on Paradise Island until a pilot, “Steve Trevor” crashes and is healed by the Amazons, precisely Diana. After Trevor is healed he is to be return to man’s land and Diana is forbidden to take him, but unknowingly to anyone Diana disguised herself, entered a contest and won the right to take Trevor home. Over the year’s writers have flaunted with Wonder Woman’s origin, but the gist remains the same. If Wonder Woman’s origin has you intrigued, then you’ll many comic books starring Wonder Woman for sale, here at White Dragon Comics.

Wonder Woman’s costume has also received numerous changes with each new artist providing their vision of the superhero, the only thing that did not change was the patriotism displayed within her ever-changing outfit. Captivated? Then go out and buy a copy of Wonder Woman today!

Batman... The Most Exploited Superhero?!?

Batman, The Caped Crusader, Creature of the Night, quipping crime fighter is DC Comic’s most exploited Superhero. Since his poignant introduction in the 1930’s, with the heart-rending death of his parents the iconic hero was a smash hit with fans…  fans that demanded more! And, DC Comics gladly gave fans what they wanted, while raking in the dough.

The masked hero has changed over the years, for instance in the earliest years the Bat was a violent hero… going so far as to throw a villain from a rooftop and executed a vampire. This quickly made him an enemy of Police Commissioner James Gordon. But, the Batman character became more popular than DC Comic’s anticipated and the publisher became fearful that younger readers would emulate the Caped Crusader’s disturbing aspects.

To curb the violence DC Comics eliminated the use of firearms and extreme force, declaring “Batman would never take a life!” And, sidekick Robin was created… in attempt to soften Batman’s darkness the young superhero Robin was introduced, and sales skyrocketed again. Their popularity was so overwhelming that DC began publishing two comic book titles and the Dynamic Duo even starred in a newspaper strip where they encountered their first defeat toSuperman (later Superman would become an ally).

The strip lasted a mere two years… largely do to the fact that newspapers refused to run the strip… primarily because they were already running Superman strips. This did not hinder sales of the iconic hero and his sidekick, they continued to rake in sales as they soared up the popularity ladder, right to the very top.

But, all good things come to an end… real life psychiatrist ‘Fredrick Wertham’ declared that comic books were morally corruptive, to impressionable young readers and he also insinuated that Batman and Robin were a homosexual duo?! In response to these damaging claims along with U.S. Senate criticism and parental disapproval DC Comics introduced the “Bat-family “with the “Batman” as a fatherly figure. They also fashioned The Caped Crusader as a kinder and gentler Batman… fans dropped the comic like a hot potato, in fact sales were so low the Batman was headed for cancellation.

Enter editor Julius Schwartz… adds the yellow oval to Batman’s chest throws
away the “Bat-Family” including Alfred but holding onto Robin. And, the Bat is back to his original dark self, while Robin is sent to join the Teen Titans. Batman’s popularity again soars and merchandise along with comic book sales skyrocket. The comic book exploded jumping to television with the “Batman” series starring Adam West as The Caped Crusader and Burt Ward as Robin. But soon, the popularity would die down and the television show would be cancelled.

Enter Neil Adams, who would slowly reinvent the superhero… his ears grew longer, his brow more foreboding and his cape overwhelmed comic panels. Yes, The Batman was back!

New and shocking adversaries are introduced… Ra al Ghul, Man-Bat, Two-Face and an updated Joker were among the wickedest introduced! Again, the Caped Crusader soared to the top and Batman was soon everywhere, and the exploitation commenced. Fans would find the Bat in several comic books, on t-shirts, made into action figures and statues. The sales soared again!

The Bat took on many roles after Neil Adams, but never lost its popularity again… possibly because of movies, television cartoon shows and adult programs along with numerous appearances in several well written and drawn comic books published under DC Comics…

In my opinion, it’s the comic book writers and artist that make Batman what he is today with their exceptional stories and mind-blowing artwork. Is the character exploited... yes. But who cares...
