George Romero's Empire of the Dead: Act One

Let us beware of saying that death is the opposite of life. The living being is only a species of the dead, and a very rare species. - Friedrich Nietzsche

George Romero brings it again! "Empire of the Dead: Act One” is sure to please the Zombie lover inside you. George Romero redefines the Zombie genre one more time. "Empire of the Dead" gives readers a different view of Zombies, something new and terrifying - Zombies with intelligence.

Once Acts Two and Three have been published, “Empire of the Dead” will serve as final chapter in George’s “Saga of the Living Dead” that he began in 1968.

The plot, as usual, concerns a handful of survivors looking out for their own interests, who band together while trying to stay alive. The story has some similarities to other Zombie stories; an evil Governor and an arena with fighting Zombies, just like “The Walking Dead”, but Romero’s Governor? Well, I don’t want to give it all away, but expect a twist like no other.

Fans of the Zombie genre will find everything they are looking for, and more, in Romero’s “Empire of the Dead, Act One”, and should only expect things to escalate in the upcoming Acts.

Archer & Armstrong: American Wasteland parts 1 & 2

Archer & Armstrong #20 & 21 (Valiant Comics)

As most of you already know, if you read my reviews, I am not a huge superhero comic book fan. Well that was until my better half the Dragon, suggested I read Archer & Armstrong #20 and 21. He tells me the Lizard King, Elvis, Marilyn and many more people that are famous are in the book.
So, I checked it out. To my surprise, it was a great story! Jim Morrison is not the same Jim Morrison of The Doors, he’s kind of an evil bastard!  And poor Elvis, well you just have to read it, I don’t want to give it all away.
The premise: Archer is looking for his parents. This brings our conspiracy busting duo to L.A. and the Hollywood Hotel . Where stars check in, but they don’t check out. Oh and did I mention an ex-president is stuck in the Hollywood Hotel as well.
Archer & Armstrong is really worth checking out. Fred Van Lente brings us some great writing and Shawn Crystal, Michael Walsh, Mico Suayan and Pere Perez bring it alive with their amazing artwork!
