Lucifer a new on-going comic book from Vertigo Comics has
recently grabbed my attention, along with many comic book fans, as issue one
sold out and went to a second printing. With Lucifer’s popularity growing I knew
it was time to read this crazy comic book about the devil living in our world. Being
a little skeptical, mainly because of the title, I hesitantly opened issue one
and got quite a shock, this comic book really looked like it was going to be an
interesting story.
It was the artwork that first grabbed my attention, Artist
Lee Garbett brings Lucifer Morningstar to life with bold lines, heavy colors
and perfect shading. Writer Holly Black’s exceptional depiction of the devil
held my interest from beginning to end, reinforcing biblical themes, fire and
brimstone, the duality of good and evil, and the fall of an Angel.
Arc one of Lucifer involves murder, an unthinkable murder,
God….God has been murdered and Lucifer and angel Gabriel must team-up to find
the evil culprit! The Devil and The Angel will take a winding, terrifying path
to Hell and back in their search for the murderer. And, when they finally find
out the name of that murderer and their reason; total shock and Mayhem!
