The Beef # 1 from Image Comics hit comic book stores last
week. The title was interesting enough, but it was the cover that got my eye, a
can of meat (like spam) but with the title of the comic book on it… The Beef.
The cover is a little tricky though, on the bottom of The Beef it says,
“Tainted Love a Bio-Chemical Romance,” so I assumed the comic was going to be a
love story… I was wrong!

Shainline took me by surprise, this strange and slightly twisted tale is quite
good! Chuck Carter, the main character of The Beef has been eating
cheeseburgers all his life, and almost always eating several burgers in one
sitting! That really can not be healthy with all those steroids, chemicals and
God only knows what else added to the cow’s diet, not to mention what they
actually add to the beef!
Chuck, who has been visiting the meat factory since
childhood, (trying to get a glimpse of his father who is forced to work double
and even triple shifts) is all grown up and has taken his fathers place at the
meat factory. The owners of the factory are terrible, nasty and no good
treating Chuck and other employees terrible!!
Things are about to change though!! The “Beef” will be born!
This comic book is not for the weak-of-heart! Sometimes the
graphics are, well graphic! This five-issue mini-series is sure to be Image
