Pretty Violent # 1 from Derek Hunter and Image Comics (Review)

Pretty Violent # 1 hit comic bookstores nationwide today 8/21/19 and it is one of several awesome comic books released this week. Pretty Violent is published by Image Comics and written by “I Hate Fairyland’s” Jason Young with art contributed by Derek Hunter.

Pretty Violent #1“Gamma Rae” (new superhero… eh, kid) thinks she is ready to become a full-fledged hero, after all she has had her powers since she was a baby and with her mega-strength villains don’t stand a chance! As our new superhero sets out on her quest to save people she comes across a dire scene… a hmmm? What if superhero Gamma Rae is really a superzero? And, what if the fans, “the people” she must save don’t want her saving? Nothing can go wrong… find out today. Pick up the latest copy and find out now!
hideous monster is attacking people and it has is someone in her hand right now! Oh No! He is screaming for help and it is up to her to save him and the rest of the townspeople, but what if she has it all wrong…

Pretty Violent is a quirky, funny take on the age-old superhero vs. supervillain plot, but with a twist here and there. The comic is a well written fun story, humorous and definitely for the adults (violence and strong language). The art is reminiscent of the I Hate Fairy Land comics, but that’s okay, especially if you were a fan of the comic… it is just as fun as the writing!

If I were to use a rating system Pretty Violent #1 would receive a 10 out of 10. Lighten up your day and have a good-laugh. Shoppers can find the latest copy for sale at White Dragon Comics. Online shoppers can find similar comics here on our Image Comics product page.
